Updated: Jun 30, 2023

The Syngenta Seeds Dassel facility was initially established in the 1950s Pride Hybrids plant. Syngenta’s main 44K square foot corn seed production facility, in Cokato, sitting on 10.2 acres, was built in 1978 as a corn seed production facility. The Syngenta Dassel site today focuses on soybean seed production, with 17 full-time and 5 contract employees. 1

The legacy seeds for Syngenta’s new crop are from Payco Seeds, Interstate Paco, and Garst seeds. These companies were combined under the umbrella of Syngenta in 2005. The seeds are distributed to farmers, private and public, as well as to area seed trial sites.

The site in Dassel is part of the original corn facilities, with 26 seed bins, storing grower overflow and experimental varieties. The site contains a 7,000 square foot open gravel lot for pallet storage and a truck scale. 1

Syngenta’s corporate headquarters in Switzerland opened on November 13, 2000 for production of flowers. Syngenta now has 90 sites around the world. 1
